In collaboration with an interior designer from the prestigious Waag Design, an exclusive atmosphere described as ‘modern design with a touch of tropical grace’ was chosen. Functionality is paramount in the spacious villa. Entering the entrance hall, the stairs to the first floor are on the right. The entire ground floor is dedicated to sleeping and care. The four bedrooms have air conditioning. Pleasant during warm nights, but not always necessary. “The villa is ‘built on the wind’,” explains the current resident. “This means the sea breeze acts as natural air conditioning. The entire ground floor is wonderfully cool.”

Feel free to leave the doors with fixed shutter panels open at night. Want to start your day optimally? Take a refreshing dip in the pool after waking up. From each bedroom, you only need to take a few steps outside to reach the water. 

Dress and Shower in the Primary Bedroom En Suite 

While two bedrooms have built-in wardrobes, the primary bedroom is extended with a walk-in closet. Directly adjacent is an en suite bathroom with a toilet. Its interior is an aesthetic delight. The ceiling extends to the roof ridge and is finished with white-painted wooden planks, beams, and trusses. Exclusive white-gray marbled tiles cover the floor. The layout and decor clearly show love and attention. This also applies to practical elements. For example, the low window sill also serves as a side table. The designer furniture from Bolia Design and Studio Piet Boon forms a perfect unity with the space. 

Cooking and Tasting En Place in the Luxury Kitchen 

The kitchen is in the same space. The living room and kitchen are lit by spotlights on a large, modern rail system. The spaces are separated by a beautiful wall that stands out in its simplicity: vertical wooden poles with a horizontal panel of the same wood. Another subtle addition to the spacious feeling. 

The luxury kitchen consists of an island with a large worktop and a bar with four chic stools. The induction hob is integrated into the island. The Miele built-in appliances include two fridge-freezer combinations, a dishwasher, and two combi ovens. Most appliances are built into a separate white cabinet wall. This transitions into a wooden, handle-less cabinet section flanking the sink area. The space above is designed as a niche. 

This kitchen is the perfect place to prepare the most delicious dishes together and taste them ‘en place.’ Prefer to eat outside? Then walk through the sliding doors to the beautiful, adjacent, covered balcony. The wooden planks, beams, and trusses running from inside to outside are striking. 

Two Studios Under One Roof 

In keeping with the villa’s style, an outbuilding has been created in the garden. These are two studios of 19 m² each under one roof. Both have a bedroom and a bathroom with a toilet. Currently, the outbuilding is used as an office and studio, again with custom-made wall furniture. The guest accommodations are practically arranged and can be functionally furnished according to your own preferences. 

The Natural Embodiment of Luxurious Serenity 

If there’s one thing that must not be missing in a tropical garden, it’s palm trees. And they are certainly present in the beautifully landscaped garden of the modern villa. With no less than 25 trees in and around the garden, the ‘outdoor residence’ looks and feels like a holiday resort. This is the natural embodiment of luxurious serenity. Both the color combinations and materials used, as well as the exclusive floor tiles seen inside, extend outside. 

Swimming Laps or Floating in the Pool? 

The outdoor pool in the garden is a major attraction. With a length of 15 meters, swimming laps is a sporty option. There is also plenty of space for floating. Particularly pleasant: the water temperature is always agreeable. You can also relax on dry land. For this, two majestic loungers, known as cabanas, are ready under two small palapas. Enjoy the sun optimally from the four sunbeds by the pool. 

Lounging Under the Palapas 

Inside is outside in tropical Curaçao. Outdoor living takes place on a large terrace with enough space for dining and lounging. Cooking can be done in the spacious outdoor kitchen under a very large palapa. The generous dining area provides the opportunity to dine until late, then end the evening with a good glass of rosé on one of the two sofas in the seating area. 

The Pleasures Without the Burdens of the Sea Breeze 

Homes near the sea often require extra maintenance. Salt deposits from the sea breeze can, for example, leave traces on the paintwork. This was also considered when building this unique villa. “The last painting was done a few years ago,” the current owner says. “The paint is still completely intact. The house is just far enough from the sea to avoid extra maintenance. So you only have the pleasures, not the burdens, of the sea breeze.” 

Breathtaking Beach with Culinary Hotspots 

From the villa, a path leads 400 meters straight to the beach below. Adjacent to the breathtaking white sandy beach, the culinary hotspots are extensive. Anyone in Jan Thiel should not miss the Mediterranean delights of Zest, the local and international dishes at Zanzibar, and the Argentine cuisine at Tinto. Whatever the culinary choice, it promises to be a feast for the taste buds.
